Don’t you love it when they play your favorite song? It’s summer time. You’re driving down the road. You’ve got the windows open, the breeze rustling your hair, and your favorite song blaring. Maybe, you’re even singing along.
All of a sudden, the radio shuts off. Aside from your frustration of not being able to finish the song, you’ve now got to examine the possibility that your fuse has blown. But, not to worry, diagnosing a blown fuse can be a relatively painless procedure.
Start by locating your vehicle’s fuse box. If you are unsure, you can refer to your owner’s manual. If it is your radio that went out, try to locate the fuse that goes to the radio and pull it out. You should be able to tell with your naked eye, if the fuse has blown.
Look for burnt marks. A blade fuse might have one half burnt up. A tube fuse might look something like the blown filament in a light bulb. Either way, if you’re not sure, you can just replace it with a good fuse and see if that takes care of the problem.
If this problem keeps happening, you’re going to have to look at the possibility that there is something wrong with the components or wiring. A component might be drawing too many amps or it could be that the wiring has a short somewhere. If you don’t know what to do with this, you may want to just pull in to your favorite Utah Auto Repair center and get it looked at.
