8. Catalytic Converter
As part of the exhaust system, the catalytic converter plays a key role in reducing toxic gas and pollutants that enter the air. The internal combustion system releases a number of harmful byproducts which the catalytic converter filters out by catalyzing an important redox reaction.
9. Muffler
The muffler is a device that reduces the noise emitted by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine. The release of this exhaust creates a considerable amount of noise which the muffler significantly mitigates.
10. Tailpipe
As the final piece of the exhaust system, the tailpipe directs the exhaust gases out and away from the vehicle. From the engine in the front, to the tailpipe in the back, your fuel makes it through the vehicle as efficiently as possible.
