Despite what some might try to tell you, fluid flushes for your automobile are a very important part of maintenance. It is important to flush and change certain fluids on a regular basis.
Why is it important to change the fluid in your car? Well, as you continue to drive dirt, airborne particles, and dust are all soon found in your car fluids. These can actually cause more damage than we think.
Because certain fluids in your car make there way through out your entire engine, they carry dirt, airborne particles, and dust into your engine and can cause such things as early wear on gears and scoring on metal. Another result is clogged fuel injectors. This can reduce fuel and engine efficiency and performance.
How do you know when it is right to change certain fluids? It is best to check out your car manual or manufacturer’s website to see which fluids they recommend to be changed and about how often they recommend. Some manufacturers only recommend changing some fluids if they’ve been checked and there are contaminants in them.
It’s important to note that some manufacturers may not realize that different climates and driving conditions affect your fluids in different ways. Some climates actually have more dust or airborne particles that can enter into your car faster. Because of this, you can get more accurate results asking a trusted professional in your area about when you should be flushing your fluids.
Cold weather in Utah can cause more sludge and build it up in your engine. An engine flush will take care of all the build up that the winter caused.
Some of the different flushes that are offered are oil, engine, coolant, transmission, steering and brake, and drive axle assemblies.
You can bring you car in to find out if you need a fluid flush of any of the above or there are even fluid test strip kits that can evaluate fluids. If you are going in for any other maintenance work, it might be a good idea to ask about fluid flushes and what your car may need.
